Chapter 7

Fire from Heaven

1

When Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD filled the temple.

The priests vvv were unable to enter… the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled [it]…

הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים וְלֹ֤א יָֽכְלוּ֙ לָב֖וֹא אֶל־ בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה כִּֽי־ כְבוֹד־ יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־ מָלֵ֥א בֵּ֥ית יְהוָֽה׃ hak·kō·hă·nîm wə·lō yā·ḵə·lū lā·ḇō·w ’el- bêṯ Yah·weh kî- ḵə·ḇō·wḏ- Yah·weh ’eṯ- mā·lê bêṯ Yah·wehWLC · 2

When all the Israelites… saw the fire coming down and the glory of the LORD above the temple, they bowed down on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave thanks to the LORD: “For He is good; His loving devotion endures forever.”

Sacrifices of Dedication

Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the LORD.

𐤅𐤄𐤌𐤋𐤊 𐤅𐤊𐤋 𐤄𐤏𐤌 𐤆𐤁𐤇𐤉𐤌 𐤆𐤁𐤇 𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄𐤎

וְהַמֶּ֖לֶךְ וְכָל־ הָעָ֑ם זֹבְחִ֥ים זֶ֖בַח לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃ס wə·ham·me·leḵ wə·ḵāl hā·‘ām zō·ḇə·ḥîm ze·ḇaḥ lip̄·nê Yah·wehWLC · 4

And King Solomon offered a sacrifice of 22,000… oxen and 120,000… sheep. So the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.

הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹה֮ אֶת־ וַיִּזְבַּ֞ח זֶ֣בַח עֶשְׂרִ֤ים וּשְׁנַ֙יִם֙ אֶ֔לֶף הַבָּקָ֗ר מֵאָ֥ה וְעֶשְׂרִ֖ים אָ֑לֶף וְצֹ֕אן הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ וְכָל־ הָעָֽם׃ וַֽיַּחְנְכוּ֙ אֶת־ בֵּ֣ית הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים ham·me·leḵ šə·lō·mōh ’eṯ- way·yiz·baḥ ze·ḇaḥ ‘eś·rîm ū·šə·na·yim ’e·lep̄ hab·bā·qār mê·’āh wə·‘eś·rîm ’ā·lep̄ wə·ṣōn ham·me·leḵ wə·ḵāl hā·‘ām way·yaḥ·nə·ḵū ’eṯ- bêṯ hā·’ĕ·lō·hîmWLC · 5

The priests stood at their posts, as did the Levites with the musical instruments of the LORD, which King David had made for giving thanks to the LORD and with which David had offered praise, saying, “For His loving devotion endures forever.” Across from the Levites, the priests sounded trumpets, and all the Israelites were standing.

Then Solomon consecrated the middle of the courtyard in front of the house of the LORD, and there he offered the burnt offerings and the fat of the peace offerings, since the bronze altar [he] had made could not hold [all these offerings] - -.

שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה אֶת־ וַיְקַדֵּ֣שׁ תּ֤וֹךְ הֶֽחָצֵר֙ אֲשֶׁר֙ לִפְנֵ֣י בֵית־ יְהוָ֔ה כִּֽי־ שָׁם֙ עָ֤שָׂה הָֽעֹל֔וֹת וְאֵ֖ת חֶלְבֵ֣י הַשְּׁלָמִ֑ים כִּֽי־ הַנְּחֹ֙שֶׁת֙ מִזְבַּ֤ח שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה עָשָׂ֣ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר יָכ֗וֹל לֹ֣א לְהָכִ֛יל אֶת־ הַמִּנְחָ֖ה וְאֶת־ הָעֹלָ֥ה וְאֶת־ הַחֲלָבִֽים׃ šə·lō·mōh ’eṯ- way·qad·dêš tō·wḵ he·ḥā·ṣêr ’ă·šer lip̄·nê ḇêṯ- Yah·weh kî- šām ‘ā·śāh hā·‘ō·lō·wṯ wə·’êṯ ḥel·ḇê haš·šə·lā·mîm kî- han·nə·ḥō·šeṯ miz·baḥ šə·lō·mōh ‘ā·śāh ’ă·šer yā·ḵō·wl lō lə·hā·ḵîl ’eṯ- ham·min·ḥāh wə·’eṯ- hā·‘ō·lāh wə·’eṯ- ha·ḥă·lā·ḇîmWLC · 7

So at that time Solomon and all Israel with him— a very great assembly of people vvv from Lebo-hamath to the Brook of Egypt— kept the feast for seven days.

הַהִ֜יא בָּעֵ֨ת שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה אֶת־ וְכָל־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל עִמּ֔וֹ מְאֹ֑ד גָּד֣וֹל קָהָ֖ל מִלְּב֥וֹא חֲמָ֖ת עַד־ נַ֥חַל מִצְרָֽיִם׃ וַיַּ֣עַשׂ הֶ֠חָג שִׁבְעַ֤ת יָמִים֙ ha·hî bā·‘êṯ šə·lō·mōh ’eṯ- wə·ḵāl yiś·rā·’êl ‘im·mōw mə·’ōḏ gā·ḏō·wl qā·hāl mil·lə·ḇō·w ḥă·māṯ ‘aḏ- na·ḥal miṣ·rā·yim way·ya·‘aś he·ḥāḡ šiḇ·‘aṯ yā·mîmWLC · 8

On the eighth day they held a solemn assembly, for the dedication of the altar… had lasted seven days, and the feast seven days more.

הַשְּׁמִינִ֖י בַּיּ֥וֹם וַֽיַּעֲשׂ֛וּ עֲצָ֑רֶת כִּ֣י׀ חֲנֻכַּ֣ת הַמִּזְבֵּ֗חַ עָשׂוּ֙ שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֔ים וְהֶחָ֖ג שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִֽים׃ haš·šə·mî·nî bay·yō·wm way·ya·‘ă·śū ‘ă·ṣā·reṯ kî ḥă·nuk·kaṯ ham·miz·bê·aḥ ‘ā·śū šiḇ·‘aṯ yā·mîm wə·he·ḥāḡ šiḇ·‘aṯ yā·mîmWLC · 9

On the twenty-third… day of the seventh month, [Solomon] sent the people away to their homes, joyful and glad of heart for the good things that the LORD had done for David, for Solomon, and for His people Israel.

The LORD’s Response to Solomon

When Solomon had finished the house of the LORD and the royal palace, successfully carrying out all that was in [his] heart to do for the house of the LORD and for his own palace,

𐤔𐤋𐤌𐤄 𐤀𐤕 𐤅𐤉𐤊𐤋 𐤁𐤉𐤕 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤅𐤀𐤕 𐤄𐤌𐤋𐤊 𐤅𐤀𐤕 𐤁𐤉𐤕 𐤄𐤑𐤋𐤉𐤇𐤐 𐤄𐤁𐤀 𐤊𐤋 𐤏𐤋 𐤔𐤋𐤌𐤄 𐤋𐤁 𐤋𐤏𐤔𐤅𐤕 𐤁𐤁𐤉𐤕 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤅𐤁𐤁𐤉𐤕𐤅

שְׁלֹמֹ֛ה אֶת־ וַיְכַ֧ל בֵּ֥ית יְהוָ֖ה וְאֶת־ הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וְאֵ֨ת בֵּ֣ית הִצְלִֽיחַ׃פ הַבָּ֜א כָּל־ עַל־ שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה לֵ֣ב לַעֲשׂ֧וֹת בְּבֵית־ יְהוָ֛ה וּבְבֵית֖וֹ šə·lō·mōh ’eṯ- way·ḵal bêṯ Yah·weh wə·’eṯ- ham·me·leḵ wə·’êṯ bêṯ hiṣ·lî·aḥ hab·bā kāl- ‘al- šə·lō·mōh lêḇ la·‘ă·śō·wṯ bə·ḇêṯ- Yah·weh ū·ḇə·ḇê·ṯōwWLC · 11

the LORD appeared to [him] at night and said to him: “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice.

𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤀 𐤀𐤋 𐤔𐤋𐤌𐤄 𐤁𐤋𐤉𐤋𐤄 𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 𐤋𐤅 𐤔𐤌𐤏𐤕𐤉 𐤀𐤕 𐤕𐤐𐤋𐤕𐤊 𐤅𐤁𐤇𐤓𐤕𐤉 𐤄𐤆𐤄 𐤁𐤌𐤒𐤅𐤌 𐤋𐤉 𐤋𐤁𐤉𐤕 𐤆𐤁𐤇

יְהוָ֛ה וַיֵּרָ֧א אֶל־ שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה בַּלָּ֑יְלָה וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֗וֹ שָׁמַ֙עְתִּי֙ אֶת־ תְּפִלָּתֶ֔ךָ וּבָחַ֜רְתִּי הַזֶּ֛ה בַּמָּק֥וֹם לִ֖י לְבֵ֥ית זָֽבַח׃ Yah·weh way·yê·rā ’el- šə·lō·mōh bal·lā·yə·lāh way·yō·mer lōw šā·ma‘·tî ’eṯ- tə·p̄il·lā·ṯe·ḵā ū·ḇā·ḥar·tî haz·zeh bam·mā·qō·wm lî lə·ḇêṯ zā·ḇaḥWLC · 12

If I close the sky so there is no rain, or if I command… the locust to devour the land, or if I send a plague among My people,

𐤄𐤍 𐤀𐤏𐤑𐤓 𐤄𐤔𐤌𐤉𐤌 𐤉𐤄𐤉𐤄 𐤅𐤋𐤀 𐤌𐤈𐤓 𐤅𐤄𐤍 𐤀𐤑𐤅𐤄 𐤏𐤋 𐤇𐤂𐤁 𐤋𐤀𐤊𐤅𐤋 𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 𐤅𐤀𐤌 𐤀𐤔𐤋𐤇 𐤃𐤁𐤓 𐤁𐤏𐤌𐤉

הֵ֣ן אֶֽעֱצֹ֤ר הַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ יִהְיֶ֣ה וְלֹֽא־ מָטָ֔ר וְהֵן־ אֲצַוֶּ֥ה עַל־ חָגָ֖ב לֶאֱכ֣וֹל הָאָ֑רֶץ וְאִם־ אֲשַׁלַּ֥ח דֶּ֖בֶר בְּעַמִּֽי׃ hên ’e·‘ĕ·ṣōr haš·šā·ma·yim yih·yeh wə·lō- mā·ṭār wə·hên- ’ă·ṣaw·weh ‘al- ḥā·ḡāḇ le·’ĕ·ḵō·wl hā·’ā·reṣ wə·’im- ’ă·šal·laḥ de·ḇer bə·‘am·mîWLC · 13

and if My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.

𐤏𐤌𐤉 𐤀𐤔𐤓 𐤍𐤒𐤓𐤀 𐤏𐤋𐤉𐤄𐤌 𐤔𐤌𐤉 𐤅𐤉𐤊𐤍𐤏𐤅 𐤅𐤉𐤕𐤐𐤋𐤋𐤅 𐤅𐤉𐤁𐤒𐤔𐤅 𐤐𐤍𐤉 𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤁𐤅 𐤌𐤍 𐤄𐤓𐤏𐤉𐤌 𐤌𐤃𐤓𐤊𐤉𐤄𐤌 𐤅𐤀𐤍𐤉 𐤀𐤔𐤌𐤏 𐤄𐤔𐤌𐤉𐤌 𐤅𐤀𐤎𐤋𐤇 𐤋𐤇𐤈𐤀𐤕𐤌 𐤅𐤀𐤓𐤐𐤀 𐤀𐤕 𐤀𐤓𐤑𐤌

עַמִּ֜י אֲשֶׁ֧ר נִֽקְרָא־ עֲלֵיהֶ֗ם שְׁמִ֣י וְיִכָּנְע֨וּ וְיִֽתְפַּֽלְלוּ֙ וִֽיבַקְשׁ֣וּ פָנַ֔י וְיָשֻׁ֖בוּ מִן־ הָרָעִ֑ים מִדַּרְכֵיהֶ֣ם וַאֲנִי֙ אֶשְׁמַ֣ע הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וְאֶסְלַח֙ לְחַטָּאתָ֔ם וְאֶרְפָּ֖א אֶת־ אַרְצָֽם׃ ‘am·mî ’ă·šer niq·rā- ‘ă·lê·hem šə·mî wə·yik·kā·nə·‘ū wə·yiṯ·pal·lū wî·ḇaq·šū p̄ā·nay wə·yā·šu·ḇū min- hā·rā·‘îm mid·dar·ḵê·hem wa·’ă·nî ’eš·ma‘ haš·šā·ma·yim wə·’es·laḥ lə·ḥaṭ·ṭā·ṯām wə·’er·pā ’eṯ- ’ar·ṣāmWLC · 14

Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.

𐤏𐤕𐤄 𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉 𐤉𐤄𐤉𐤅 𐤐𐤕𐤇𐤅𐤕 𐤅𐤀𐤆𐤍𐤉 𐤒𐤔𐤁𐤅𐤕 𐤋𐤕𐤐𐤋𐤕 𐤄𐤆𐤄 𐤄𐤌𐤒𐤅𐤌

עַתָּ֗ה עֵינַי֙ יִהְי֣וּ פְתֻח֔וֹת וְאָזְנַ֖י קַשֻּׁב֑וֹת לִתְפִלַּ֖ת הַזֶּֽה׃ הַמָּק֥וֹם ‘at·tāh ‘ê·nay yih·yū p̄ə·ṯu·ḥō·wṯ wə·’ā·zə·nay qaš·šu·ḇō·wṯ liṯ·p̄il·laṯ haz·zeh ham·mā·qō·wmWLC · 15

vvv For I have now chosen and consecrated this temple so that My Name may be there forever… My eyes and My heart will be there for all time…

𐤅𐤏𐤕𐤄 𐤁𐤇𐤓𐤕𐤉 𐤅𐤄𐤒𐤃𐤔𐤕𐤉 𐤀𐤕 𐤄𐤆𐤄 𐤄𐤁𐤉𐤕 𐤔𐤌𐤉 𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤅𐤕 𐤔𐤌 𐤏𐤃 𐤏𐤅𐤋𐤌 𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉 𐤅𐤋𐤁𐤉 𐤅𐤄𐤉𐤅 𐤔𐤌 𐤊𐤋 𐤄𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤌

וְעַתָּ֗ה בָּחַ֤רְתִּי וְהִקְדַּ֙שְׁתִּי֙ אֶת־ הַזֶּ֔ה הַבַּ֣יִת שְׁמִ֥י לִהְיוֹת־ שָׁ֖ם עַד־ עוֹלָ֑ם עֵינַ֧י וְלִבִּ֛י וְהָי֨וּ שָׁ֖ם כָּל־ הַיָּמִֽים׃ wə·‘at·tāh bā·ḥar·tî wə·hiq·daš·tî ’eṯ- haz·zeh hab·ba·yiṯ šə·mî lih·yō·wṯ- šām ‘aḏ- ‘ō·w·lām ‘ê·nay wə·lib·bî wə·hā·yū šām kāl- hay·yā·mîmWLC · 16

And as for you, if you walk before Me as your father David walked, doing all I have commanded you, and if you keep My statutes and ordinances,

𐤅𐤀𐤕𐤄 𐤀𐤌 𐤕𐤋𐤊 𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉 𐤊𐤀𐤔𐤓 𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤊 𐤃𐤅𐤉𐤃 𐤄𐤋𐤊 𐤅𐤋𐤏𐤔𐤅𐤕 𐤊𐤊𐤋 𐤀𐤔𐤓 𐤑𐤅𐤉𐤕𐤉𐤊 𐤕𐤔𐤌𐤅𐤓 𐤅𐤇𐤒𐤉 𐤅𐤌𐤔𐤐𐤈𐤉

וְאַתָּ֞ה אִם־ תֵּלֵ֣ךְ לְפָנַ֗י כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר אָבִ֔יךָ דָּוִ֣יד הָלַךְ֙ וְלַעֲשׂ֕וֹת כְּכֹ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר צִוִּיתִ֑יךָ תִּשְׁמֽוֹר׃ וְחֻקַּ֥י וּמִשְׁפָּטַ֖י wə·’at·tāh ’im- tê·lêḵ lə·p̄ā·nay ka·’ă·šer ’ā·ḇî·ḵā dā·wîḏ hā·laḵ wə·la·‘ă·śō·wṯ kə·ḵōl ’ă·šer ṣiw·wî·ṯî·ḵā tiš·mō·wr wə·ḥuq·qay ū·miš·pā·ṭayWLC · 17

then I will establish your royal throne, as I covenanted with your father David when I said, ‘You will never fail to have a man to rule over Israel.’

𐤅𐤄𐤒𐤉𐤌𐤅𐤕𐤉 𐤀𐤕 𐤌𐤋𐤊𐤅𐤕𐤊 𐤊𐤎𐤀 𐤊𐤀𐤔𐤓 𐤊𐤓𐤕𐤉 𐤀𐤁𐤉𐤊 𐤋𐤃𐤅𐤉𐤃 𐤋𐤀𐤌𐤓 𐤋𐤀 𐤉𐤊𐤓𐤕 𐤋𐤊 𐤀𐤉𐤔 𐤌𐤅𐤔𐤋 𐤁𐤉𐤔𐤓𐤀𐤋

וַהֲקִ֣ימוֹתִ֔י אֵ֖ת מַלְכוּתֶ֑ךָ כִּסֵּ֣א כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר כָּרַ֗תִּי אָבִ֙יךָ֙ לְדָוִ֤יד לֵאמֹ֔ר לֹֽא־ יִכָּרֵ֤ת לְךָ֙ אִ֔ישׁ מוֹשֵׁ֖ל בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ wa·hă·qî·mō·w·ṯî ’êṯ mal·ḵū·ṯe·ḵā kis·sê ka·’ă·šer kā·rat·tî ’ā·ḇî·ḵā lə·ḏā·wîḏ lê·mōr lō- yik·kā·rêṯ lə·ḵā ’îš mō·wō·šêl bə·yiś·rā·’êlWLC · 18

But if you turn away and forsake the statutes and commandments I have set before you, and if you go off to serve and worship other gods,

𐤅𐤀𐤌 𐤀𐤕𐤌 𐤕𐤔𐤅𐤁𐤅𐤍 𐤅𐤏𐤆𐤁𐤕𐤌 𐤇𐤒𐤅𐤕𐤉 𐤅𐤌𐤑𐤅𐤕𐤉 𐤀𐤔𐤓 𐤍𐤕𐤕𐤉 𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤊𐤌 𐤅𐤄𐤋𐤊𐤕𐤌 𐤅𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤕𐤌 𐤅𐤄𐤔𐤕𐤇𐤅𐤉𐤕𐤌 𐤋𐤄𐤌 𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉𐤌 𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌

וְאִם־ אַתֶּ֔ם תְּשׁוּב֣וּן וַעֲזַבְתֶּם֙ חֻקּוֹתַ֣י וּמִצְוֺתַ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָתַ֖תִּי לִפְנֵיכֶ֑ם וַהֲלַכְתֶּ֗ם וַעֲבַדְתֶּם֙ וְהִשְׁתַּחֲוִיתֶ֖ם לָהֶֽם׃ אֲחֵרִ֔ים אֱלֹהִ֣ים wə·’im- ’at·tem tə·šū·ḇūn wa·‘ă·zaḇ·tem ḥuq·qō·w·ṯay ū·miṣ·wō·ṯay ’ă·šer nā·ṯat·tî lip̄·nê·ḵem wa·hă·laḵ·tem wa·‘ă·ḇaḏ·tem wə·hiš·ta·ḥă·wî·ṯem lā·hem ’ă·ḥê·rîm ’ĕ·lō·hîmWLC · 19

then I will uproot Israel from the soil I have given them, and I will banish from My presence this temple I have sanctified for My Name. I will make it an object of scorn and ridicule among all the peoples.

𐤅𐤍𐤕𐤔𐤕𐤉𐤌 𐤌𐤏𐤋 𐤀𐤃𐤌𐤕𐤉 𐤀𐤔𐤓 𐤍𐤕𐤕𐤉 𐤋𐤄𐤌 𐤀𐤔𐤋𐤉𐤊 𐤌𐤏𐤋 𐤐𐤍𐤉 𐤅𐤀𐤕 𐤄𐤆𐤄 𐤄𐤁𐤉𐤕 𐤀𐤔𐤓 𐤄𐤒𐤃𐤔𐤕𐤉 𐤋𐤔𐤌𐤉 𐤅𐤀𐤕𐤍𐤍𐤅 𐤋𐤌𐤔𐤋 𐤅𐤋𐤔𐤍𐤉𐤍𐤄 𐤁𐤊𐤋 𐤄𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤌

וּנְתַשְׁתִּ֗ים מֵעַ֤ל אַדְמָתִי֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נָתַ֣תִּי לָהֶ֔ם אַשְׁלִ֖יךְ מֵעַ֣ל פָּנָ֑י וְאֶת־ הַזֶּה֙ הַבַּ֤יִת אֲשֶׁ֣ר הִקְדַּ֣שְׁתִּי לִשְׁמִ֔י וְאֶתְּנֶ֛נּוּ לְמָשָׁ֥ל וְלִשְׁנִינָ֖ה בְּכָל־ הָעַמִּֽים׃ ū·nə·ṯaš·tîm mê·‘al ’aḏ·mā·ṯî ’ă·šer nā·ṯat·tî lā·hem ’aš·lîḵ mê·‘al pā·nāy wə·’eṯ- haz·zeh hab·ba·yiṯ ’ă·šer hiq·daš·tî liš·mî wə·’et·tə·nen·nū lə·mā·šāl wə·liš·nî·nāh bə·ḵāl hā·‘am·mîmWLC · 20

And [when] this temple has become a heap of rubble, all who pass by it will be appalled and say, ‘Why has the LORD done such a thing to this land and to this temple?’

𐤄𐤆𐤄 𐤅𐤄𐤁𐤉𐤕 𐤀𐤔𐤓 𐤄𐤉𐤄 𐤏𐤋𐤉𐤅𐤍 𐤋𐤊𐤋 𐤏𐤁𐤓 𐤏𐤋𐤉𐤅 𐤉𐤔𐤌 𐤅𐤀𐤌𐤓 𐤁𐤌𐤄 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤏𐤔𐤄 𐤊𐤊𐤄 𐤄𐤆𐤀𐤕 𐤋𐤀𐤓𐤑 𐤄𐤆𐤄 𐤅𐤋𐤁𐤉𐤕

הַזֶּה֙ וְהַבַּ֤יִת אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָיָ֣ה עֶלְי֔וֹן לְכָל־ עֹבֵ֥ר עָלָ֖יו יִשֹּׁ֑ם וְאָמַ֗ר בַּמֶּ֨ה יְהוָה֙ עָשָׂ֤ה כָּ֔כָה הַזֹּ֖את לָאָ֥רֶץ הַזֶּֽה׃ וְלַבַּ֥יִת haz·zeh wə·hab·ba·yiṯ ’ă·šer hā·yāh ‘el·yō·wn lə·ḵāl ‘ō·ḇêr ‘ā·lāw yiš·šōm wə·’ā·mar bam·meh Yah·weh ‘ā·śāh kā·ḵāh haz·zōṯ lā·’ā·reṣ haz·zeh wə·lab·ba·yiṯWLC · 21

And [others] will answer, ‘Because they have forsaken the LORD, the God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, worshiping and serving them— because of this, He has brought all this disaster upon them.’” -

𐤅𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤅 𐤏𐤋 𐤀𐤔𐤓 𐤏𐤆𐤁𐤅 𐤀𐤕 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉 𐤀𐤁𐤕𐤉𐤄𐤌 𐤀𐤔𐤓 𐤄𐤅𐤑𐤉𐤀𐤌 𐤌𐤀𐤓𐤑 𐤌𐤑𐤓𐤉𐤌 𐤅𐤉𐤇𐤆𐤉𐤒𐤅 𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉𐤌 𐤁𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤕𐤇𐤅𐤅 𐤋𐤄𐤌 𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤅𐤌 𐤏𐤋 𐤊𐤍 𐤄𐤁𐤉𐤀 𐤊𐤋 𐤄𐤆𐤀𐤕𐤐 𐤄𐤓𐤏𐤄 𐤏𐤋𐤉𐤄𐤌 𐤀𐤕

וְאָמְר֗וּ עַל֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר עָֽזְב֜וּ אֶת־ יְהוָ֣ה׀ אֱלֹהֵ֣י אֲבֹתֵיהֶ֗ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר הוֹצִיאָם֮ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַיִם֒ וַֽיַּחֲזִ֙יקוּ֙ אֲחֵרִ֔ים בֵּאלֹהִ֣ים וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲו֥וּ לָהֶ֖ם וַיַּֽעַבְד֑וּם עַל־ כֵּן֙ הֵבִ֣יא כָּל־ הַזֹּֽאת׃פ הָרָעָ֖ה עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם אֵ֥ת wə·’ā·mə·rū ‘al ’ă·šer ‘ā·zə·ḇū ’eṯ- Yah·weh ’ĕ·lō·hê ’ă·ḇō·ṯê·hem ’ă·šer hō·w·ṣî·’ām mê·’e·reṣ miṣ·ra·yim way·ya·ḥă·zî·qū ’ă·ḥê·rîm bê·lō·hîm way·yiš·ta·ḥă·wū lā·hem way·ya·‘aḇ·ḏūm ‘al- kên hê·ḇî kāl- haz·zōṯ hā·rā·‘āh ‘ă·lê·hem ’êṯWLC · 22
