Tribute to Xerxes and Mordecai

Now King Xerxes imposed tribute throughout the land, even to its farthest shores…
𐤄𐤌𐤋𐤊 𐤀𐤇𐤔𐤓𐤔 𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤌 𐤌𐤎 𐤏𐤋 𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑 𐤅𐤀𐤉𐤉 𐤄𐤉𐤌
הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ אֲחָשֵׁרֹשׁ וַיָּשֶׂם֩ מַ֛ס עַל־ הָאָ֖רֶץ וְאִיֵּ֥י הַיָּֽם׃ ham·me·leḵ ʾă·ḥå̄·šē·rōš way·yā·śem mas ‘al- hā·’ā·reṣ wə·’î·yê hay·yām — WLC · 1

And all of Mordecai’s powerful and magnificent accomplishments, together with the full account of the greatness to which the king had raised him, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles… of the Kings of Media and Persia?

וְכָל־ מָרְדֳּכַ֔י תָקְפּוֹ֙ וּגְב֣וּרָת֔וֹ מַעֲשֵׂ֤ה וּפָרָשַׁת֙ גְּדֻלַּ֣ת אֲשֶׁ֥ר הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ גִּדְּל֖וֹ הֵ֣ם הֲלוֹא־ כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־ סֵ֙פֶר֙ דִּבְרֵ֣י הַיָּמִ֔ים לְמַלְכֵ֖י מָדַ֥י וּפָרָֽס׃ wə·ḵāl mā·rə·do·ḵay ṯā·qə·pōw ū·ḡə·ḇū·rā·ṯōw ma·‘ă·śêh ū·p̄ā·rā·šaṯ gə·ḏul·laṯ ’ă·šer ham·me·leḵ gid·də·lōw hêm hă·lō·w- kə·ṯū·ḇîm ‘al- sê·p̄er diḇ·rê hay·yā·mîm lə·mal·ḵê mā·ḏay ū·p̄ā·rās — WLC · 2

For Mordecai the Jew was second only to King Xerxes, preeminent among the Jews and highly favored by his many kinsmen, seeking the good of his people and speaking peace to all his countrymen.
