Chapter 126
Zion’s Captives Restored

A song of ascents. 1When the LORD restored the captives of Zion, we were like dreamers.
𐤔𐤉𐤓 𐤄𐤌𐤏𐤋𐤅𐤕 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤀𐤕 𐤁𐤔𐤅𐤁 𐤔𐤉𐤁𐤕 𐤑𐤉𐤅𐤍 𐤄𐤉𐤉𐤍𐤅 𐤊𐤇𐤋𐤌𐤉𐤌
שִׁ֗יר הַֽמַּ֫עֲל֥וֹת יְ֭הוָה אֶת־ בְּשׁ֣וּב שִׁיבַ֣ת צִיּ֑וֹן הָ֝יִ֗ינוּ כְּחֹלְמִֽים׃ šîr ham·ma·‘ă·lō·wṯ Yah·weh ’eṯ- bə·šūḇ šî·ḇaṯ ṣî·yō·wn hā·yî·nū kə·ḥō·lə·mîm — WLC · 1

Then our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with shouts of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.”

אָ֤ז פִּינוּ֮ יִמָּלֵ֪א שְׂח֡וֹק וּלְשׁוֹנֵ֪נוּ רִ֫נָּ֥ה אָ֭ז יֹאמְר֣וּ בַגּוֹיִ֑ם יְ֝הוָ֗ה לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת הִגְדִּ֥יל עִם־ אֵֽלֶּה׃ ’āz pî·nū yim·mā·lê śə·ḥō·wq ū·lə·šō·w·nê·nū rin·nāh ’āz yō·mə·rū ḇag·gō·w·yim Yah·weh la·‘ă·śō·wṯ hiḡ·dîl ‘im- ’êl·leh — WLC · 2

The LORD has done great things for us; we are filled with joy.

יְ֭הוָה לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת הִגְדִּ֣יל עִמָּ֗נוּ הָיִ֥ינוּ שְׂמֵחִֽים׃ Yah·weh la·‘ă·śō·wṯ hiḡ·dîl ‘im·mā·nū hā·yî·nū śə·mê·ḥîm — WLC · 3

Restore our captives, O LORD, like streams in the Negev.

שׁוּבָ֣ה שְׁבוּתֵנוּ יְ֭הוָה אֶת־ כַּאֲפִיקִ֥ים בַּנֶּֽגֶב׃ šū·ḇāh šə·ḇū·ṯē·nū Yah·weh ’eṯ- ka·’ă·p̄î·qîm ban·ne·ḡeḇ — WLC · 4

Those who sow in tears will reap with shouts of joy.
𐤄𐤆𐤓𐤏𐤉𐤌 𐤁𐤃𐤌𐤏𐤄 𐤉𐤒𐤑𐤓𐤅 𐤁𐤓𐤍𐤄
הַזֹּרְעִ֥ים בְּדִמְעָ֗ה יִקְצֹֽרוּ׃ בְּרִנָּ֥ה haz·zō·rə·‘îm bə·ḏim·‘āh yiq·ṣō·rū bə·rin·nāh — WLC · 5

He who goes out… weeping, bearing a trail of seed, will surely return… with shouts of joy, carrying sheaves [of grain].

הָ֘ל֤וֹךְ יֵלֵ֨ךְ׀ וּבָכֹה֮ נֹשֵׂ֪א מֶֽשֶׁךְ־ הַ֫זָּ֥רַע בֹּֽ֬א־ יָב֥וֹא בְרִנָּ֑ה נֹ֝שֵׂ֗א אֲלֻמֹּתָֽיו׃ hā·lō·wḵ yê·lêḵ ū·ḇā·ḵōh nō·śê me·šeḵ- haz·zā·ra‘ bō- yā·ḇō·w ḇə·rin·nāh nō·śê ’ă·lum·mō·ṯāw — WLC · 6
