After the Battle

For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. 1O LORD, the king rejoices in Your strength. How greatly he exults in Your salvation!

לַמְנַצֵּ֗חַ מִזְמ֥וֹר לְדָוִֽד׃ יְֽהוָ֗ה מֶ֑לֶךְ יִשְׂמַח־ בְּעָזְּךָ֥ מַה־ יָּ֥גֶיל מְאֹֽד׃ וּ֝בִישׁ֥וּעָתְךָ֗ lam·naṣ·ṣê·aḥ miz·mō·wr lə·ḏā·wiḏ Yah·weh me·leḵ yiś·maḥ- bə·‘āz·zə·ḵā mah- yå̄·ḡɛl mə·’ōḏ ū·ḇî·šū·‘ā·ṯə·ḵā — WLC · 1

You have granted his heart’s desire and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah

נָתַ֣תָּה לּ֑וֹ לִ֭בּוֹ תַּאֲוַ֣ת בַּל־ מָנַ֥עְתָּ וַאֲרֶ֥שֶׁת שְׂ֝פָתָ֗יו סֶּֽלָה׃ nā·ṯat·tāh lōw lib·bōw ta·’ă·waṯ bal- mā·na‘·tā wa·’ă·re·šeṯ śə·p̲ā·t̲āyw se·lāh — WLC · 2

For You welcomed him with rich blessings; You placed on his head a crown of pure gold.

כִּֽי־ תְ֭קַדְּמֶנּוּ ט֑וֹב בִּרְכ֣וֹת תָּשִׁ֥ית לְ֝רֹאשׁ֗וֹ עֲטֶ֣רֶת פָּֽז׃ kî- ṯə·qad·də·men·nū ṭō·wḇ bir·ḵō·wṯ tā·šîṯ lə·rō·šōw ‘ă·ṭe·reṯ pāz — WLC · 3

He asked You for… life, and You granted it— length of days, forever and ever.

שָׁאַ֣ל מִ֭מְּךָ חַיִּ֤ים׀ נָתַ֣תָּה לּ֑וֹ אֹ֥רֶךְ יָ֝מִ֗ים עוֹלָ֥ם וָעֶֽד׃ šā·’al mim·mə·ḵā ḥay·yîm nā·ṯat·tāh lōw ’ō·reḵ yā·mîm ‘ō·w·lām wā·‘eḏ — WLC · 4

Great is his glory in Your salvation; You bestow on him splendor and majesty.

גָּד֣וֹל כְּ֭בוֹדוֹ בִּישׁוּעָתֶ֑ךָ תְּשַׁוֶּ֥ה עָלָֽיו׃ ה֥וֹד וְ֝הָדָר gā·ḏō·wl kə·ḇō·w·ḏōw bî·šū·‘ā·ṯe·ḵā tə·šaw·weh ‘ā·lāw hō·wḏ wə·hā·ḏār — WLC · 5

For You grant him blessings forever…; You cheer him with joy in Your presence.

כִּֽי־ תְשִׁיתֵ֣הוּ בְרָכ֣וֹת לָעַ֑ד תְּחַדֵּ֥הוּ בְ֝שִׂמְחָ֗ה אֶת־ פָּנֶֽיךָ׃ kî- ṯə·šî·ṯê·hū ḇə·rā·ḵō·wṯ lā·‘aḏ tə·ḥad·dê·hū ḇə·śim·ḥāh ’eṯ- pā·ne·ḵā — WLC · 6

For the king trusts in the LORD; through the loving devotion of the Most High, he will not be shaken.

כִּֽי־ הַ֭מֶּלֶךְ בֹּטֵ֣חַ בַּיהוָ֑ה וּבְחֶ֥סֶד עֶ֝לְי֗וֹן בַּל־ יִמּֽוֹט׃ kî- ham·me·leḵ bō·ṭê·aḥ Yah·weh ū·ḇə·ḥe·seḏ ‘el·yō·wn bal- yim·mō·wṭ — WLC · 7

Your hand will apprehend all Your enemies; Your right hand will seize those who hate You.
𐤉𐤃𐤊 𐤕𐤌𐤑𐤀 𐤋𐤊𐤋 𐤀𐤉𐤁𐤉𐤊 𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤍𐤊 𐤕𐤌𐤑𐤀 𐤔𐤍𐤀𐤉𐤊
יָ֭דְךָ תִּמְצָ֣א לְכָל־ אֹיְבֶ֑יךָ יְ֝מִֽינְךָ תִּמְצָ֥א שֹׂנְאֶֽיךָ׃ yā·ḏə·ḵā tim·ṣā lə·ḵāl ’ō·yə·ḇe·ḵā yə·mî·nə·ḵā tim·ṣā śō·nə·’e·ḵā — WLC · 8

You will place them in a fiery furnace at the time of Your appearing. In His wrath the LORD will engulf them, and the fire will consume them.

תְּשִׁיתֵ֤מוֹ׀ אֵשׁ֮ כְּתַנּ֥וּר לְעֵ֪ת פָּ֫נֶ֥יךָ בְּאַפּ֣וֹ יְ֭הוָה יְבַלְּעֵ֑ם אֵֽשׁ׃ וְֽתֹאכְלֵ֥ם tə·šî·ṯê·mōw ’êš kə·ṯan·nūr lə·‘êṯ pā·ne·ḵā bə·’ap·pōw Yah·weh yə·ḇal·lə·‘êm ’êš wə·ṯō·ḵə·lêm — WLC · 9

You will wipe their descendants from the earth, and their offspring from the sons of men.

תְּאַבֵּ֑ד פִּ֭רְיָמוֹ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ וְ֝זַרְעָ֗ם מִבְּנֵ֥י אָדָֽם׃ tə·’ab·bêḏ pir·yā·mōw mê·’e·reṣ wə·zar·‘ām mib·bə·nê ’ā·ḏām — WLC · 10

Though they intend You harm, the schemes they devise will not prevail.
𐤊𐤉 𐤍𐤈𐤅 𐤏𐤋𐤉𐤊 𐤓𐤏𐤄 𐤌𐤆𐤌𐤄 𐤇𐤔𐤁𐤅 𐤁𐤋 𐤉𐤅𐤊𐤋𐤅
כִּי־ נָט֣וּ עָלֶ֣יךָ רָעָ֑ה מְ֝זִמָּ֗ה חָֽשְׁב֥וּ בַּל־ יוּכָֽלוּ׃ kî- nā·ṭū ‘ā·le·ḵā rā·‘āh mə·zim·māh ḥā·šə·ḇū bal- yū·ḵā·lū — WLC · 11

For You will put them to flight… when Your bow is trained upon them.

כִּ֭י תְּשִׁיתֵ֣מוֹ שֶׁ֑כֶם בְּ֝מֵֽיתָרֶ֗יךָ תְּכוֹנֵ֥ן עַל־ פְּנֵיהֶֽם׃ kî tə·šî·ṯê·mōw še·ḵem bə·mê·ṯā·re·ḵā tə·ḵō·w·nên ‘al- pə·nê·hem — WLC · 12

Be exalted, O LORD, in Your strength; we will sing and praise Your power.
