Vindicate Me, O LORD

Of David. 1Vindicate me, O LORD! For I have walked with integrity; I have trusted in the LORD without wavering.

לְדָוִ֨ד׀ שָׁפְטֵ֤נִי יְהוָ֗ה כִּֽי־ אֲ֭נִי הָלַ֑כְתִּי בְּתֻמִּ֣י בָּ֝טַ֗חְתִּי וּבַיהוָ֥ה לֹ֣א אֶמְעָֽד׃ lə·ḏā·wiḏ šā·p̄ə·ṭê·nî Yah·weh kî- ’ă·nî hā·laḵ·tî bə·ṯum·mî bā·ṭaḥ·tî Yah·weh lō ’em·‘āḏ — WLC · 1

Test me, O LORD, and try me; examine my heart and mind.

For Your loving devotion is before my eyes, and I have walked in Your truth.

כִּֽי־ חַ֭סְדְּךָ לְנֶ֣גֶד עֵינָ֑י וְ֝הִתְהַלַּ֗כְתִּי בַּאֲמִתֶּֽךָ׃ kî- ḥas·də·ḵā lə·ne·ḡeḏ ‘ê·nāy wə·hiṯ·hal·laḵ·tî ba·’ă·mit·te·ḵā — WLC · 3

I do not sit with deceitful men, nor keep company with hypocrites.

לֹא־ יָ֭שַׁבְתִּי עִם־ שָׁ֑וְא מְתֵי־ לֹ֣א אָבֽוֹא׃ וְעִ֥ם נַ֝עֲלָמִ֗ים lō- yā·šaḇ·tî ‘im- šāw mə·ṯê- lō ’ā·ḇō·w wə·‘im na·‘ă·lā·mîm — WLC · 4

I hate the mob of evildoers, and refuse to sit with the wicked.

שָׂ֭נֵאתִי קְהַ֣ל מְרֵעִ֑ים לֹ֣א אֵשֵֽׁב׃ וְעִם־ רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים śā·nēʾ·t̲î qə·hal mə·rê·‘îm lō ’ê·šêḇ wə·‘im- rə·šā·‘îm — WLC · 5

I wash my hands in innocence that I may go about Your altar, O LORD,
𐤀𐤓𐤇𐤑 𐤊𐤐𐤉 𐤁𐤍𐤒𐤉𐤅𐤍 𐤅𐤀𐤎𐤁𐤁𐤄 𐤀𐤕 𐤌𐤆𐤁𐤇𐤊 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄
אֶרְחַ֣ץ כַּפָּ֑י בְּנִקָּי֣וֹן וַאֲסֹבְבָ֖ה אֶת־ מִזְבַּחֲךָ֣ יְהוָֽה׃ ’er·ḥaṣ kap·pāy bə·niq·qā·yō·wn wa·’ă·sō·ḇə·ḇāh ’eṯ- miz·ba·ḥă·ḵā Yah·weh — WLC · 6

to raise my voice in thanksgiving and declare all Your wonderful works.

לַ֭שְׁמִעַ בְּק֣וֹל תּוֹדָ֑ה וּ֝לְסַפֵּ֗ר כָּל־ נִפְלְאוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ laš·mi·a‘ bə·qō·wl tō·w·ḏāh ū·lə·sap·pêr kāl- nip̄·lə·’ō·w·ṯe·ḵā — WLC · 7

O LORD, I love the house where You dwell, the place where Your glory resides.

יְֽהוָ֗ה אָ֭הַבְתִּי בֵּיתֶ֑ךָ מְע֣וֹן וּ֝מְק֗וֹם כְּבוֹדֶֽךָ׃ מִשְׁכַּ֥ן Yah·weh ’ā·haḇ·tî bê·ṯe·ḵā mə·‘ō·wn ū·mə·qō·wm kə·ḇō·w·ḏe·ḵā miš·kan — WLC · 8

Do not take my soul away with sinners, or my life with men of bloodshed,
𐤀𐤋 𐤕𐤀𐤎𐤐 𐤍𐤐𐤔𐤉 𐤏𐤌 𐤇𐤈𐤀𐤉𐤌 𐤇𐤉𐤉 𐤅𐤏𐤌 𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉 𐤃𐤌𐤉𐤌
אַל־ תֶּאֱסֹ֣ף נַפְשִׁ֑י עִם־ חַטָּאִ֣ים חַיָּֽי׃ וְעִם־ אַנְשֵׁ֖י דָמִ֣ים ’al- te·’ĕ·sōp̄ nap̄·šî ‘im- ḥaṭ·ṭā·’îm ḥay·yāy wə·‘im- ’an·šê ḏā·mîm — WLC · 9

in whose hands are wicked schemes, whose right hands are full of bribes.
𐤀𐤔𐤓 𐤁𐤉𐤃𐤉𐤄𐤌 𐤆𐤌𐤄 𐤅𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤍𐤌 𐤌𐤋𐤀𐤄 𐤔𐤇𐤃
אֲשֶׁר־ בִּידֵיהֶ֥ם זִמָּ֑ה וִֽ֝ימִינָ֗ם מָ֣לְאָה שֹּֽׁחַד׃ ’ă·šer- bî·ḏê·hem zim·māh wî·mî·nām mā·lə·’āh šō·ḥaḏ — WLC · 10

But I will walk with integrity; redeem me and be merciful to me.

וַ֭אֲנִי אֵלֵ֗ךְ בְּתֻמִּ֥י פְּדֵ֣נִי וְחָנֵּֽנִי׃ wa·’ă·nî ’ê·lêḵ bə·ṯum·mî pə·ḏê·nî wə·ḥān·nê·nî — WLC · 11

My feet stand on level ground; in the congregations I will bless the LORD.
