Praise to the Creator
1
Rejoice in the LORD, O righteous ones; it is fitting for the upright to praise [Him].

רַנְּנ֣וּ בַּֽיהוָ֑ה צַ֭דִּיקִים נָאוָ֥ה לַ֝יְשָׁרִ֗ים תְהִלָּֽה׃ ran·nə·nū Yah·weh ṣad·dî·qîm nā·wāh lay·šā·rîm ṯə·hil·lāh — WLC · 1

Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to Him with ten strings…

הוֹד֣וּ לַיהוָ֣ה בְּכִנּ֑וֹר זַמְּרוּ־ לֽוֹ׃ עָ֝שׂ֗וֹר בְּנֵ֥בֶל hō·w·ḏū Yah·weh bə·ḵin·nō·wr zam·mə·rū- lōw ‘ā·śō·wr bə·nê·ḇel — WLC · 2

Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a shout of joy.

שִֽׁירוּ־ ל֭וֹ חָדָ֑שׁ שִׁ֣יר נַ֝גֵּ֗ן הֵיטִ֥יבוּ בִּתְרוּעָֽה׃ šî·rū- lōw ḥā·ḏāš šîr nag·gên hê·ṭî·ḇū biṯ·rū·‘āh — WLC · 3

For the word of the LORD is upright, and all His work is trustworthy.
𐤊𐤉 𐤃𐤁𐤓 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤉𐤔𐤓 𐤅𐤊𐤋 𐤌𐤏𐤔𐤄𐤅 𐤁𐤀𐤌𐤅𐤍𐤄
כִּֽי־ דְּבַר־ יְהוָ֑ה יָשָׁ֥ר וְכָל־ מַ֝עֲשֵׂ֗הוּ בֶּאֱמוּנָֽה׃ kî- də·ḇar- Yah·weh yā·šār wə·ḵāl ma·‘ă·śê·hū be·’ĕ·mū·nāh — WLC · 4

[The LORD] loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of [His] loving devotion.

אֹ֭הֵב צְדָקָ֣ה וּמִשְׁפָּ֑ט הָאָֽרֶץ׃ מָלְאָ֥ה יְ֝הוָ֗ה חֶ֥סֶד ’ō·hêḇ ṣə·ḏā·qāh ū·miš·pāṭ hā·’ā·reṣ mā·lə·’āh Yah·weh ḥe·seḏ — WLC · 5

By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and all the stars by the breath of His mouth.

בִּדְבַ֣ר יְ֭הוָה שָׁמַ֣יִם נַעֲשׂ֑וּ כָּל־ צְבָאָֽם׃ וּבְר֥וּחַ פִּ֝֗יו biḏ·ḇar Yah·weh šā·ma·yim na·‘ă·śū kāl- ṣə·ḇā·’ām ū·ḇə·rū·aḥ pîw — WLC · 6

He piles up… the waters of the sea; He puts the depths into storehouses.

כֹּנֵ֣ס כַּ֭נֵּד מֵ֣י הַיָּ֑ם נֹתֵ֖ן תְּהוֹמֽוֹת׃ בְּאֹצָר֣וֹת kō·nês kan·nêḏ mê hay·yām nō·ṯên tə·hō·w·mō·wṯ bə·’ō·ṣā·rō·wṯ — WLC · 7

Let all the earth fear… the LORD; let all the people of the world revere Him.

כָּל־ הָאָ֑רֶץ יִֽירְא֣וּ מִמֶּ֥נּוּ מֵ֭יְהוָה כָּל־ יֹשְׁבֵ֥י תֵבֵֽל׃ יָ֝ג֗וּרוּ kāl- hā·’ā·reṣ yî·rə·’ū mim·men·nū Yah·weh kāl- yō·šə·ḇê ṯê·ḇêl yā·ḡū·rū — WLC · 8

For He spoke, and it came to be; He commanded, and it stood firm.

כִּ֤י ה֣וּא אָמַ֣ר וַיֶּ֑הִי הֽוּא־ צִ֝וָּ֗ה וַֽיַּעֲמֹֽד׃ kî hū ’ā·mar way·ye·hî hū- ṣiw·wāh way·ya·‘ă·mōḏ — WLC · 9

The LORD frustrates the plans of the nations; He thwarts the devices of the peoples.

יְֽהוָ֗ה הֵפִ֥יר עֲצַת־ גּוֹיִ֑ם הֵ֝נִ֗יא מַחְשְׁב֥וֹת עַמִּֽים׃ Yah·weh hê·p̄îr ‘ă·ṣaṯ- gō·w·yim hê·nî maḥ·šə·ḇō·wṯ ‘am·mîm — WLC · 10

The counsel of the LORD stands forever…, the purposes of His heart to all generations…

עֲצַ֣ת יְ֭הוָה תַּעֲמֹ֑ד לְעוֹלָ֣ם מַחְשְׁב֥וֹת לִ֝בּ֗וֹ לְדֹ֣ר וָדֹֽר׃ ‘ă·ṣaṯ Yah·weh ta·‘ă·mōḏ lə·‘ō·w·lām maḥ·šə·ḇō·wṯ lib·bōw lə·ḏōr wā·ḏōr — WLC · 11

Blessed [is] the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His inheritance

אַשְׁרֵ֣י הַ֭גּוֹי אֲשֶׁר־ אֱלֹהָ֑יו יְהוָ֣ה הָעָ֓ם׀ בָּחַ֖ר לְנַחֲלָ֣ה לֽוֹ׃ ’aš·rê hag·gō·w ’ă·šer- ’ĕ·lō·hāw Yah·weh hā·‘ām bā·ḥar lə·na·ḥă·lāh lōw — WLC · 12

The LORD looks down from heaven; He sees all the sons of men.

יְהוָ֑ה הִבִּ֣יט מִ֭שָּׁמַיִם רָ֝אָ֗ה אֶֽת־ כָּל־ בְּנֵ֥י הָאָדָֽם׃ Yah·weh hib·bîṭ miš·šā·ma·yim rā·’āh ’eṯ- kāl- bə·nê hā·’ā·ḏām — WLC · 13

From His dwelling place He gazes on all who inhabit the earth.

יֹשְׁבֵ֣י מִֽמְּכוֹן־ הִשְׁגִּ֑יחַ אֶ֖ל כָּל־ שִׁבְתּ֥וֹ הָאָֽרֶץ׃ yō·šə·ḇê mim·mə·ḵō·wn- hiš·gî·aḥ ’el kāl- šiḇ·tōw hā·’ā·reṣ — WLC · 14

He shapes the hearts of each; He considers… all their works.

הַיֹּצֵ֣ר לִבָּ֑ם יַ֣חַד הַ֝מֵּבִ֗ין אֶל־ כָּל־ מַעֲשֵׂיהֶֽם׃ hay·yō·ṣêr lib·bām ya·ḥaḏ ham·mê·ḇîn ’el- kāl- ma·‘ă·śê·hem — WLC · 15

No king is saved by his vast army; no warrior is delivered by his great strength.

אֵֽין־ הַ֭מֶּלֶךְ נוֹשָׁ֣ע בְּרָב־ חָ֑יִל לֹֽא־ גִּ֝בּ֗וֹר יִנָּצֵ֥ל בְּרָב־ כֹּֽחַ׃ ’ên- ham·me·leḵ nō·wō·šā‘ bə·rāḇ- ḥā·yil lō- gib·bō·wr yin·nā·ṣêl bə·rāḇ- kō·aḥ — WLC · 16

A horse is a vain hope for salvation; even its great strength cannot save.
𐤄𐤎𐤅𐤎 𐤔𐤒𐤓 𐤋𐤕𐤔𐤅𐤏𐤄 𐤅𐤁𐤓𐤁 𐤇𐤉𐤋𐤅 𐤋𐤀 𐤉𐤌𐤋𐤈
הַ֭סּוּס שֶׁ֣קֶר לִתְשׁוּעָ֑ה וּבְרֹ֥ב חֵ֝יל֗וֹ לֹ֣א יְמַלֵּֽט׃ has·sūs še·qer liṯ·šū·‘āh ū·ḇə·rōḇ ḥê·lōw lō yə·mal·lêṭ — WLC · 17

Surely the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear Him, on those whose hope is in His loving devotion

הִנֵּ֤ה עֵ֣ין יְ֭הוָה אֶל־ יְרֵאָ֑יו לַֽמְיַחֲלִ֥ים לְחַסְדּֽוֹ׃ hin·nêh ‘ên Yah·weh ’el- yə·rê·’āw lam·ya·ḥă·lîm lə·ḥas·dōw — WLC · 18

to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.

לְהַצִּ֣יל נַפְשָׁ֑ם מִמָּ֣וֶת וּ֝לְחַיּוֹתָ֗ם בָּרָעָֽב׃ lə·haṣ·ṣîl nap̄·šām mim·mā·weṯ ū·lə·ḥay·yō·w·ṯām bā·rā·‘āḇ — WLC · 19

Our soul waits for the LORD; He is our help and our shield.
𐤍𐤐𐤔𐤍𐤅 𐤇𐤊𐤕𐤄 𐤋𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤄𐤅𐤀 𐤏𐤆𐤓𐤍𐤅 𐤅𐤌𐤂𐤍𐤍𐤅
נַ֭פְשֵׁנוּ חִכְּתָ֣ה לַֽיהוָ֑ה הֽוּא׃ עֶזְרֵ֖נוּ וּמָגִנֵּ֣נוּ nap̄·šê·nū ḥik·kə·ṯāh Yah·weh hū ‘ez·rê·nū ū·mā·ḡin·nê·nū — WLC · 20
21
For our hearts rejoice in Him, since we trust in His holy name.

כִּי־ לִבֵּ֑נוּ יִשְׂמַ֣ח ב֭וֹ כִּ֤י בָטָֽחְנוּ׃ קָדְשׁ֣וֹ בְשֵׁ֖ם kî- lib·bê·nū yiś·maḥ ḇōw kî ḇā·ṭā·ḥə·nū qā·ḏə·šōw ḇə·šêm — WLC · 21

May Your loving devotion rest on us, O LORD, as we put our hope in You.
