Give Ear to My Words

For the choirmaster, to be accompanied by flutes. A Psalm of David. 1Give ear to my words, O LORD; consider my groaning.

לַמְנַצֵּ֥חַ אֶֽל־ הַנְּחִיל֗וֹת מִזְמ֥וֹר לְדָוִֽד׃ הַאֲזִ֥ינָה׀ אֲמָרַ֖י יְהוָ֗ה בִּ֣ינָה הֲגִֽיגִי׃ lam·naṣ·ṣê·aḥ ’el- han·nə·ḥî·lō·wṯ miz·mō·wr lə·ḏā·wiḏ ha·’ă·zî·nāh ’ă·mā·ray Yah·weh bî·nāh hă·ḡî·ḡî — WLC · 1

Attend to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to You I pray.

הַקְשִׁ֤יבָה׀ לְק֬וֹל שַׁוְעִ֗י מַלְכִּ֥י וֵאלֹהָ֑י כִּֽי־ אֵ֝לֶ֗יךָ אֶתְפַּלָּֽל׃ haq·šî·ḇāh lə·qō·wl šaw·‘î mal·kî wê·lō·hāy kî- ’ê·le·ḵā ’eṯ·pal·lāl — WLC · 2

In the morning, O LORD, You hear my voice; at daybreak I lay [my plea] before You and wait in expectation.

בֹּ֭קֶר יְֽהוָ֗ה תִּשְׁמַ֣ע קוֹלִ֑י בֹּ֥קֶר אֶֽעֱרָךְ־ לְ֝ךָ֗ וַאֲצַפֶּֽה׃ bō·qer Yah·weh tiš·ma‘ qō·w·lî bō·qer ’e·‘ĕ·rāḵ- lə·ḵā wa·’ă·ṣap·peh — WLC · 3

For You are not a God who delights in wickedness; no evil can dwell with You.
𐤊𐤉 𐤀𐤕𐤄 𐤋𐤀 𐤀𐤋 𐤇𐤐𐤑 𐤓𐤔𐤏 𐤋𐤀 𐤓𐤏 𐤉𐤂𐤓𐤊
כִּ֤י׀ אָ֑תָּה לֹ֤א אֵֽל־ חָפֵ֘ץ רֶ֥שַׁע׀ לֹ֖א רָֽע׃ יְגֻרְךָ֣ kî ’āt·tāh lō ’êl- ḥā·p̄êṣ re·ša‘ lō rā‘ yə·ḡur·ḵā — WLC · 4

The boastful… cannot stand in Your presence; You hate all workers of iniquity.

הֽ֭וֹלְלִים לְנֶ֣גֶד לֹֽא־ יִתְיַצְּב֣וּ עֵינֶ֑יךָ שָׂ֝נֵ֗אתָ כָּל־ פֹּ֥עֲלֵי אָֽוֶן׃ hō·wl·lîm lə·ne·ḡeḏ lō- yiṯ·yaṣ·ṣə·ḇū ‘ê·ne·ḵā śā·nēʾ·t̲ā kāl- pō·‘ă·lê ’ā·wen — WLC · 5

You destroy those who tell lies; the LORD abhors the man of bloodshed and deceit.
𐤕𐤀𐤁𐤃 𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤉 𐤊𐤆𐤁 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤉𐤕𐤏𐤁 𐤀𐤉𐤔 𐤃𐤌𐤉𐤌 𐤅𐤌𐤓𐤌𐤄
תְּאַבֵּד֮ דֹּבְרֵ֪י כָ֫זָ֥ב יְהוָֽה׃ יְתָ֘עֵ֥ב׀ אִישׁ־ דָּמִ֥ים וּמִרְמָ֗ה tə·’ab·bêḏ dō·ḇə·rê ḵā·zāḇ Yah·weh yə·ṯā·‘êḇ ’îš- dā·mîm ū·mir·māh — WLC · 6

But I will enter Your house by the abundance of Your loving devotion; in reverence I will bow down toward Your holy temple.

וַאֲנִ֗י אָב֣וֹא בֵיתֶ֑ךָ בְּרֹ֣ב חַ֭סְדְּךָ בְּיִרְאָתֶֽךָ׃ אֶשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֥ה אֶל־ קָ֝דְשְׁךָ֗ הֵֽיכַל־ wa·’ă·nî ’ā·ḇō·w ḇê·ṯe·ḵā bə·rōḇ ḥas·də·ḵā bə·yir·’ā·ṯe·ḵā ’eš·ta·ḥă·weh ’el- qāḏ·šə·ḵā hê·ḵal- — WLC · 7

Lead me, O LORD, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; make straight Your way before me.

נְחֵ֬נִי יְהוָ֤ה׀ בְצִדְקָתֶ֗ךָ לְמַ֥עַן שׁוֹרְרָ֑י הוֹשַׁר דַּרְכֶּֽךָ׃ לְפָנַ֣י nə·ḥê·nî Yah·weh ḇə·ṣiḏ·qā·ṯe·ḵā lə·ma·‘an šō·wr·rāy hō·šar dar·ke·ḵā lə·p̄ā·nay — WLC · 8

For not a word they speak can be trusted; destruction [lies] within them. Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit.

כִּ֤י אֵ֪ין בְּפִ֡יהוּ נְכוֹנָה֮ הַ֫וּ֥וֹת קִרְבָּ֪ם גְּרוֹנָ֑ם פָּת֥וּחַ קֶֽבֶר־ לְ֝שׁוֹנָ֗ם יַחֲלִֽיקוּן׃ kî ’ên bə·p̄î·hū nə·ḵō·w·nāh haw·wō·wṯ qir·bām gə·rō·w·nām pā·ṯū·aḥ qe·ḇer- lə·šō·w·nām ya·ḥă·lî·qūn — WLC · 9

Declare them guilty, O God; let them fall by their own devices. Drive them out for their many transgressions, for they have rebelled against You.

הַֽאֲשִׁימֵ֨ם׀ אֱֽלֹהִ֗ים יִפְּלוּ֮ מִֽמֹּעֲצ֪וֹתֵ֫יהֶ֥ם הַדִּיחֵ֑מוֹ בְּרֹ֣ב פִּ֭שְׁעֵיהֶם כִּי־ מָ֥רוּ בָֽךְ׃ ha·’ă·šî·mêm ’ĕlō·hîm yip·pə·lū mim·mō·‘ă·ṣō·w·ṯê·hem had·dî·ḥê·mōw bə·rōḇ piš·‘ê·hem kî- mā·rū ḇāḵ — WLC · 10

But let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them ever shout for joy… May You shelter them, that those who love Your name may rejoice in You.
𐤊𐤋 𐤇𐤅𐤎𐤉 𐤁𐤊 𐤅𐤉𐤔𐤌𐤇𐤅 𐤉𐤓𐤍𐤍𐤅 𐤋𐤏𐤅𐤋𐤌 𐤅𐤕𐤎𐤊 𐤏𐤋𐤉𐤌𐤅 𐤀𐤄𐤁𐤉 𐤔𐤌𐤊 𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤋𐤑𐤅 𐤁𐤊
כָל־ ח֪וֹסֵי בָ֡ךְ וְיִשְׂמְח֨וּ יְ֭רַנֵּנוּ לְעוֹלָ֣ם וְתָסֵ֣ךְ עָלֵ֑ימוֹ אֹהֲבֵ֥י שְׁמֶֽךָ׃ וְֽיַעְלְצ֥וּ בְ֝ךָ֗ ḵāl ḥō·w·sê ḇāḵ wə·yiś·mə·ḥū yə·ran·nê·nū lə·‘ō·w·lām wə·ṯā·sêḵ ‘ā·lê·mōw ’ō·hă·ḇê šə·me·ḵā wə·ya‘·lə·ṣū ḇə·ḵā — WLC · 11

For surely You, O LORD, bless the righteous; You surround them with the shield of Your favor.
𐤊𐤉 𐤀𐤕𐤄 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 𐤕𐤁𐤓𐤊 𐤑𐤃𐤉𐤒 𐤕𐤏𐤈𐤓𐤍𐤅 𐤊𐤑𐤍𐤄 𐤓𐤑𐤅𐤍
כִּֽי־ אַתָּה֮ יְהוָ֑ה תְּבָרֵ֪ךְ צַ֫דִּ֥יק תַּעְטְרֶֽנּוּ׃ כַּ֝צִּנָּ֗ה רָצ֥וֹן kî- ’at·tāh Yah·weh tə·ḇā·rêḵ ṣad·dîq ta‘·ṭə·ren·nū kaṣ·ṣin·nāh rā·ṣō·wn — WLC · 12
