Save Me by Your Name

For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments. A Maskil of David. When the Ziphites went to Saul and said, “Is David not hiding among us?” 1Save me, O God, by Your name, and vindicate me by Your might!

Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth.

שְׁמַ֣ע תְּפִלָּתִ֑י אֱ֭לֹהִים הַ֝אֲזִ֗ינָה לְאִמְרֵי־ פִֽי׃ šə·ma‘ tə·p̄il·lā·ṯî ’ĕ·lō·hîm ha·’ă·zî·nāh lə·’im·rê- p̄î — WLC · 2

For strangers rise up against me, and ruthless men seek my life— men with no regard… for God. Selah

כִּ֤י זָרִ֨ים׀ קָ֤מוּ עָלַ֗י וְֽ֭עָרִיצִים בִּקְשׁ֣וּ נַפְשִׁ֑י לֹ֤א שָׂ֨מוּ לְנֶגְדָּ֣ם אֱלֹהִ֖ים סֶֽלָה׃ kî zā·rîm qā·mū ‘ā·lay wə·‘ā·rî·ṣîm biq·šū nap̄·šî lō śā·mū lə·neḡ·dām ’ĕ·lō·hîm se·lāh — WLC · 3

Surely God is my helper the Lord is the sustainer of my soul.

הִנֵּ֣ה אֱ֭לֹהִים עֹזֵ֣ר לִ֑י אֲ֝דֹנָ֗י בְּֽסֹמְכֵ֥י נַפְשִֽׁי׃ hin·nêh ’ĕ·lō·hîm ‘ō·zêr lî ’ă·ḏō·nāy bə·sō·mə·ḵê nap̄·šî — WLC · 4

He will reward my enemies with evil. In Your faithfulness, destroy them.

Freely I will sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, O LORD, for it is good.

בִּנְדָבָ֥ה אֶזְבְּחָה־ לָּ֑ךְ א֤וֹדֶה שִּׁמְךָ֖ יְהוָ֣ה כִּי־ טֽוֹב׃ bin·ḏā·ḇāh ’ez·bə·ḥāh- lāḵ ’ō·w·ḏeh šim·ḵā Yah·weh kî- ṭō·wḇ — WLC · 6

For He has delivered me from every trouble, and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes.
