Victory with God

לַ֭מְנַצֵּחַ עַל־ שׁוּשַׁ֣ן עֵד֑וּת מִכְתָּ֖ם לְדָוִ֣ד לְלַמֵּֽד׃ בְּהַצּוֹת֨וֹ׀ אֶ֥ת אֲרַ֣ם נַהֲרַיִם֮ וְאֶת־ אֲרַ֪ם צ֫וֹבָ֥ה יוֹאָ֗ב וַיָּ֤שָׁב וַיַּ֣ךְ אֶת־ שְׁנֵ֖ים עָשָׂ֣ר אָֽלֶף׃ אֱד֣וֹם בְּגֵיא־ מֶ֑לַח זְנַחְתָּ֣נוּ אֱ֭לֹהִים פְרַצְתָּ֑נוּ אָ֝נַ֗פְתָּ תְּשׁ֣וֹבֵ֥ב לָֽנוּ׃ lam·naṣ·ṣê·aḥ ‘al- šū·šan ‘ê·ḏūṯ miḵ·tām lə·ḏā·wiḏ lə·lam·mêḏ bə·haṣ·ṣō·w·ṯōw ’eṯ ’ă·ram na·hă·ra·yim wə·’eṯ- ’ă·ram ṣō·w·ḇāh yō·w·’āḇ way·yā·šāḇ way·yaḵ ’eṯ- šə·nêm ‘ā·śār ’ā·lep̄ ’ĕ·ḏō·wm bə·ḡê- me·laḥ zə·naḥ·tā·nū ’ĕ·lō·hîm p̄ə·raṣ·tā·nū ’ā·nap̄·tā tə·šō·w·ḇêḇ lā·nū — WLC · 1

You have shaken the land and torn it open. Heal its fractures, for it is quaking.

You have shown Your people hardship; we are staggered from the wine You made us drink.

You have raised a banner for those who fear You, that they may flee… the bow. Selah

נָ֘תַ֤תָּה נֵּ֭ס לִּירֵאֶ֣יךָ לְהִתְנוֹסֵ֑ס מִ֝פְּנֵ֗י קֹ֣שֶׁט סֶֽלָה׃ nā·ṯat·tāh nês lî·rê·’e·ḵā lə·hiṯ·nō·w·sês mip·pə·nê qō·šeṭ se·lāh — WLC · 4

Respond and save us with Your right hand, that Your beloved may be delivered.

וַעֲנֵנוּ׃ הוֹשִׁ֖יעָה יְמִֽינְךָ֣ לְ֭מַעַן יְדִידֶ֑יךָ יֵחָלְצ֣וּן wa·ʿă·nē·nū hō·wō·šî·‘āh yə·mî·nə·ḵā lə·ma·‘an yə·ḏî·ḏe·ḵā yê·ḥā·lə·ṣūn — WLC · 5

God has spoken from His sanctuary: “I will triumph! I will parcel out Shechem and apportion the Valley of Succoth.

אֱלֹהִ֤ים׀ דִּבֶּ֥ר בְּקָדְשׁ֗וֹ אֶ֫עְלֹ֥זָה אֲחַלְּקָ֥ה שְׁכֶ֑ם אֲמַדֵּֽד׃ וְעֵ֖מֶק סֻכּ֣וֹת ’ĕ·lō·hîm dib·ber bə·qā·ḏə·šōw ’e‘·lō·zāh ’ă·ḥal·lə·qāh šə·ḵem ’ă·mad·dêḏ wə·‘ê·meq suk·kō·wṯ — WLC · 6

Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim is My helmet…, Judah [is] My scepter.

Moab is My washbasin…; upon Edom I toss My sandal; over Philistia I shout in triumph.

מוֹאָ֤ב׀ סִ֬יר רַחְצִ֗י עַל־ אֱ֭דוֹם אַשְׁלִ֣יךְ נַעֲלִ֑י עָ֝לַ֗י פְּלֶ֣שֶׁת הִתְרֹעָֽעִֽי׃ mō·w·’āḇ sîr raḥ·ṣî ‘al- ’ĕ·ḏō·wm ’aš·lîḵ na·‘ă·lî ‘ā·lay pə·le·šeṯ hiṯ·rō·‘ā·‘î — WLC · 8

Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?

Have You not… rejected us, O God? Will You no longer march out, O God, with our armies?

הֲלֹֽא־ אַתָּ֣ה זְנַחְתָּ֑נוּ אֱלֹהִ֣ים וְֽלֹא־ תֵצֵ֥א אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים בְּצִבְאוֹתֵֽינוּ׃ hă·lō- ’at·tāh zə·naḥ·tā·nū ’ĕ·lō·hîm wə·lō- ṯê·ṣê ’ĕ·lō·hîm bə·ṣiḇ·’ō·w·ṯê·nū — WLC · 10

Give us aid against the enemy, for the help of man is worthless.

הָֽבָה־ לָּ֣נוּ עֶזְרָ֣ת מִצָּ֑ר תְּשׁוּעַ֥ת אָדָם׃ וְ֝שָׁ֗וְא hā·ḇāh- lā·nū ‘ez·rāṯ miṣ·ṣār tə·šū·‘aṯ ʾå̄·ḏå̄m wə·šāw — WLC · 11

With God we will perform with valor, and He will trample our enemies.
