God’s Name Is Great in Israel

You are resplendent with light, more majestic than mountains filled with game.

The valiant… lie plundered; they sleep their last sleep. No… men of might could lift a hand.

At Your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both horse and rider lie stunned.

מִ֭גַּעֲרָ֣תְךָ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יַעֲקֹ֑ב וָסֽוּס׃ וְרֶ֣כֶב נִ֝רְדָּ֗ם mig·ga·‘ă·rā·ṯə·ḵā ’ĕ·lō·hê ya·‘ă·qōḇ wā·sūs wə·re·ḵeḇ nir·dām — WLC · 6

You alone are to be feared. When You are angry, who can stand before You?

אַתָּ֤ה׀ אַ֗תָּה נ֥וֹרָא מֵאָ֥ז אַפֶּֽךָ׃ וּמִֽי־ יַעֲמֹ֥ד לְפָנֶ֗יךָ ’at·tāh ’at·tāh nō·w·rā mê·’āz ’ap·pe·ḵā ū·mî- ya·‘ă·mōḏ lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā — WLC · 7

From heaven You pronounced judgment, [and] the earth feared and was still

מִ֭שָּׁמַיִם הִשְׁמַ֣עְתָּ דִּ֑ין אֶ֖רֶץ יָֽרְאָ֣ה וְשָׁקָֽטָה׃ miš·šā·ma·yim hiš·ma‘·tā dîn ’e·reṣ yā·rə·’āh wə·šā·qā·ṭāh — WLC · 8

when God rose up to judge, to save all the lowly of the earth. Selah

אֱלֹהִ֑ים בְּקוּם־ לַמִּשְׁפָּ֥ט לְהוֹשִׁ֖יעַ כָּל־ עַנְוֵי־ אֶ֣רֶץ סֶֽלָה׃ ’ĕ·lō·hîm bə·qūm- lam·miš·pāṭ lə·hō·wō·šî·a‘ kāl- ‘an·wê- ’e·reṣ se·lāh — WLC · 9

Even the wrath of man shall praise You; with the survivors of wrath You will clothe Yourself.

כִּֽי־ חֲמַ֣ת אָדָ֣ם תּוֹדֶ֑ךָּ שְׁאֵרִ֖ית חֵמֹ֣ת תַּחְגֹּֽר׃ kî- ḥă·maṯ ’ā·ḏām tō·w·ḏe·kā šə·’ê·rîṯ ḥê·mōṯ taḥ·gōr — WLC · 10

Make and fulfill your vows to the LORD your God; let all the neighboring lands bring tribute to Him who is to be feared.

נִֽדֲר֣וּ וְשַׁלְּמוּ֮ לַיהוָ֪ה אֱֽלֹהֵ֫יכֶ֥ם כָּל־ סְבִיבָ֑יו יוֹבִ֥ילוּ שַׁ֝֗י לַמּוֹרָֽא׃ ni·ḏă·rū wə·šal·lə·mū Yah·weh ’ĕlō·hê·ḵem kāl- sə·ḇî·ḇāw yō·w·ḇî·lū šay lam·mō·w·rā — WLC · 11

He breaks the spirits of princes; He is feared by the kings of the earth.
