Chapter 15

Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,

Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

¶ And he called the multitude, and said unto them, +w Hear|strong=“G0191”+w*, +w and|strong=“G2532”+w* +w understand|strong=“G4920”+w*:

Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?

But he answered and said, +w Every|strong=“G3956”+w* +w plant|strong=“G5451”+w*, +w which|strong=“G3739”+w* +w my|strong=“G3450”+w* +w heavenly|strong=“G3770”+w* +w Father|strong=“G3962”+w* +w hath|strong=“G5452”+w* +w not|strong=“G3756”+w* +w planted|strong=“G5452”+w*, +w shall be rooted up|strong=“G1610”+w*.

Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.

¶ Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.

And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

But he answered and said, +w I am|strong=“G0649”+w* +w not|strong=“G3756”+w* +w sent|strong=“G0649”+w* +w but|strong=“G3361”+w* +w unto|strong=“G1519”+w* +w the lost|strong=“G0622”+w* +w sheep|strong=“G4263”+w* +w of the house|strong=“G3624”+w* +w of Israel|strong=“G2474”+w*.

Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

But he answered and said, +w It is|strong=“G2076”+w* +w not|strong=“G3756”+w* +w meet|strong=“G2570”+w* +w to take|strong=“G2983”+w* +w the children’s|strong=“G5043”+w* +w bread|strong=“G0740”+w*, +w and|strong=“G2532”+w* +w to cast|strong=“G0906”+w* +add it+add* +w to dogs|strong=“G2952”+w*.

And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.

Then Jesus answered and said unto her, j +w O|strong=“G5599”+w* +w woman|strong=“G1135”+w*, +w great|strong=“G3173”+w* +add is+add* +w thy|strong=“G4675”+w* +w faith|strong=“G4102”+w*: +w be it|strong=“G1096”+w* +w unto thee|strong=“G4671”+w* +w even as|strong=“G5613”+w* +w thou wilt|strong=“G2309”+w*. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.

And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them:
31
Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?

And Jesus saith unto them, j +w How many|strong=“G4214”+w* +w loaves|strong=“G0740”+w* +w have ye|strong=“G2192”+w*? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.

And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.

And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.
38
And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
39
And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.
