Chapter 8

In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and saith unto them,

+w And|strong=“G2532”+w* +w if|strong=“G1437”+w* +w I send|strong=“G0630”+w* +w them|strong=“G0846”+w* +w away|strong=“G0630”+w* +w fasting|strong=“G3523”+w* +w to|strong=“G1519”+w* +w their own|strong=“G0846”+w* +w houses|strong=“G3624”+w*, +w they will faint|strong=“G1590”+w* +w by|strong=“G1722”+w* +w the way|strong=“G3598”+w*: +w for|strong=“G1063”+w* +w divers|strong=“G5100”+w* +w of them|strong=“G0846”+w* +w came|strong=“G2240”+w* +w from far|strong=“G3113”+w*.

And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?

And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.

And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.

So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.

And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away.

¶ And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.

And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, +w Why|strong=“G5101”+w* +w doth|strong=“G1934”+w* +w this|strong=“G3778”+w* +w generation|strong=“G1074”+w* +w seek after|strong=“G1934”+w* +w a sign|strong=“G4592”+w*? +w verily|strong=“G0281”+w* +w I say|strong=“G3004”+w* +w unto you|strong=“G5213”+w*, +w There shall|strong=“G1325”+w* +w no|strong=“G1487”+w* +w sign|strong=“G4592”+w* +w be given|strong=“G1325”+w* +w unto|strong=“G1074”+w* +w this|strong=“G3778”+w* +w generation|strong=“G1074”+w*.

And he left them, and entering into the ship again departed to the other side.

¶ Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.

And he charged them, saying, +w Take heed|strong=“G3708”+w*, +w beware|strong=“G0991”+w* +w of|strong=“G0575”+w* +w the leaven|strong=“G2219”+w* +w of the Pharisees|strong=“G5330”+w*, +w and|strong=“G2532”+w* +add of+add* +w the leaven|strong=“G2219”+w* +w of Herod|strong=“G2264”+w*.

And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.

And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, +w Why|strong=“G5101”+w* +w reason ye|strong=“G1260”+w*, +w because|strong=“G3754”+w* +w ye have|strong=“G2192”+w* +w no|strong=“G3756”+w* +w bread|strong=“G0740”+w*? +w perceive ye|strong=“G3539”+w* +w not yet|strong=“G3768”+w*, +w neither|strong=“G3761”+w* +w understand|strong=“G4920”+w*? +w have ye|strong=“G2192”+w* +w your|strong=“G5216”+w* +w heart|strong=“G2588”+w* +w yet|strong=“G2089”+w* +w hardened|strong=“G4456”+w*?

They say unto him, Twelve.

¶ And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.

And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.

And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.

After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.

And he sent him away to his house, saying, +w Neither|strong=“G3366”+w* +w go|strong=“G1525”+w* +w into|strong=“G1519”+w* +w the town|strong=“G2968”+w*, +w nor|strong=“G3366”+w* +w tell|strong=“G2036”+w* +add it+add* +w to any|strong=“G5100”+w* +w in|strong=“G1722”+w* +w the town|strong=“G2968”+w*.

¶ And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Cæsarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, +w Whom|strong=“G5101”+w* +w do|strong=“G3004”+w* +w men|strong=“G0444”+w* +w say|strong=“G3004”+w* +w that I|strong=“G3165”+w* +w am|strong=“G1511”+w*?

And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.

And he saith unto them, j +w But|strong=“G1161”+w* +w whom|strong=“G5101”+w* +w say|strong=“G3004”+w* +w ye|strong=“G5210”+w* +w that I|strong=“G3165”+w* +w am|strong=“G1511”+w*? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.

And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.

And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.

But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, +w Get thee|strong=“G5217”+w* +w behind|strong=“G3694”+w* +w me|strong=“G3450”+w*, +w Satan|strong=“G4567”+w*: +w for|strong=“G3754”+w* thou +w savourest|strong=“G5426”+w* +w not|strong=“G3756”+w* +w the things|strong=“G3588”+w* +w that be of God|strong=“G2316”+w*, +w but|strong=“G0235”+w* +w the things|strong=“G3588”+w* +w that be of men|strong=“G0444”+w*.
